On October 21, spot negotiations for pure benzene in East China ranged from 10,230 to 10,480 RMB/ton, largely consistent with morning forecasts. International crude oil prices remained high, providing cost-side support and stabilizing market sentiment. Active port deliveries continued to draw down inventories, which remained at low levels. Limited spot circulation resources led holders to resist selling at lower prices. However, downstream margins remain under pressure, resulting in strong resistance to high raw material costs and limited willingness to chase higher prices.

On October 21, domestic styrene prices rose. In Jiangsu province, mainstream spot transactions closed at 11,150–11,400 RMB/ton, an average increase of 95 RMB/ton from the previous day. Crude oil prices continued their upward trend, supporting costs. Downstream buyers primarily purchased based on rigid demand, while some traders actively entered the market to cover short positions for next month, resulting in decent trading activity.

Benzene prices dipped despite high feedstock costs, squeezing margins. With rising capacity utilization and soft downstream demand, I expect stability to remain fragile as inventories rebuild in East China.
