The DME market maintained a strong overall trend this week. During the holiday period, DME supply increased slightly as factories focused on inventory accumulation, while intra-market demand remained limited to essential purchases. Although logistics were restricted during the holidays, transportation for surrounding areas was not significantly affected, allowing downstream users to continue purchasing based on their own needs. Influenced by robust pre-holiday costs, Henan Xinlianxin Chemical raised product prices further during the holiday. Post-increase, factory shipments were smooth, and market buying sentiment was positive. After the holiday, feedstock methanol prices surged significantly. Production areas such as Jiangxi and Shandong followed suit with price increases driven by higher costs, resulting in healthy transaction volumes. As methanol continues to trade firmly, cost-side support is expected to remain strong in the short term.
This week, the average cost of DME production in Henan was 5,645 yuan/ton, an increase of 428 yuan/ton compared to last week, representing a rise of 8.20%.
The average profit margin for DME in Henan was 55 yuan/ton this week, an increase of 97 yuan/ton from the previous week, marking a substantial jump of 230.95%.
Next week, several units, including those operated by Jiehua and Haoyuan, may undergo shutdowns. These are primarily methanol-integrated facilities. Since methanol currently offers better profitability than DME, a reduction in on-site supply is anticipated. It is estimated that next week's recovery volume will be lower than the loss volume, leading to a projected decline in capacity utilization. Chempricehub forecasts that the DME market will continue to run strongly in the short term.
