On September 30, Sinopec South China Company announced the following posted prices for xylene: Guangzhou Petrochemical’s isomerized xylene was quoted at RMB 9,150/ton; Maoming Petrochemical’s isomerized xylene was also quoted at RMB 9,150/ton; and Zhongke Refining & Chemical’s isomerized xylene was similarly quoted at RMB 9,150/ton.
In the previous trading day, toluene and xylene exhibited divergent trends. Yesterday, strong support from pure benzene drove toluene higher, while xylene prices declined following delivery settlement. The significant drop in crude oil prices, coupled with thin pre-holiday trading activity, placed pressure on the spot market. However, tight spot supply and advanced sales by refineries helped restrain price declines. Currently, there is no clear directional signal for aromatics futures. In the short term, the market is expected to trade within a narrow range, with intraday movements primarily characterized by resilient pricing amid consolidation.
