On October 22, the market price of phthalic anhydride (PA) in Jiangsu Province fluctuated and remained stable. The mainstream negotiated prices for PA produced via the ortho-xylene process ranged from RMB 10,300 to 10,500 per ton, while quotes for PA produced via the naphthalene process were between RMB 9,700 and 9,800 per ton. Operating rates at domestic PA production facilities declined; however, spot supply in the domestic market remained stable. Crude oil prices rose amidst fluctuations, leading to stabilized prices for raw materials: ortho-xylene prices trended steady, and industrial naphthalene prices fluctuated but held firm, resulting in a stabilization of PA production costs. Downstream plasticizer markets also showed signs of stability, with operating rates at plasticizer plants decreasing slightly. Nevertheless, demand support for PA persisted as downstream buyers continued with essential procurement, contributing to the overall stabilization of the phthalic anhydride market.
