Benchmarked against the East China market, today's mainstream spot reference price for acrylic acid was 7,750 yuan/ton, up 100 yuan/ton from the previous working day. The acrylic acid market maintained a firm tone today. Feedstock propylene prices advanced by a wide margin, putting significant pressure on costs. Acrylic acid producers and stock holders made flexible offers, while some traders withheld quotations. Downstream buyers sought to cover essential needs at acceptable prices, and actual transaction negotiations trended higher amid fluctuations.

3. Production Dynamics

Today's acrylic acid capacity utilization rate was 68.68%, unchanged from the previous day. The acrylic acid production margin in East China was 40.5 yuan/ton, up 100 yuan/ton from the previous working day.

4. Price Forecast

Propylene is expected to remain at high levels tomorrow, providing strong cost-side support. Acrylic acid producers and stock holders are likely to adjust offers in line with market movements. With downstream demand gradually being released, the market is expected to maintain a fluctuating pattern.

5. Related Product Conditions

Propylene: Prices in the Shandong propylene market extended their broad uptrend, with the mainstream closing reference at 9,800–10,000 yuan/ton and an average of 9,900 yuan/ton, up 385 yuan/ton from the previous working day. International crude oil trended upward, strengthening cost support for propylene. Producer inventories remained low, and offers continued to be raised aggressively. Downstream buyers mainly purchased on a need basis. Premiums persisted in actual-order auctions, lifting the overall transaction price center higher.

Butyl acrylate: The negotiated price in the East China butyl acrylate market was 9,200–9,300 yuan/ton, up 50 yuan/ton from the previous working day. Butyl acrylate prices continued to rise today. Feedstock n-butanol moved higher, intensifying cost pressure on butyl acrylate, while propylene prices maintained strong gains. Butyl acrylate plants and stock holders sustained high offer levels. Downstream adhesive tape jumbo roll producers and acrylic acid plants remained largely wait-and-see, although trading conditions were fair, and the negotiation center for actual orders rose amid fluctuations.

Propylene feedstock cost surge is squeezing acrylic acid margins hard, yet producers are holding the line with steady 68.68% utilization, so downstream demand seems gradually absorbing the hike. I'd watch for margin comp..
