Morning Market Update for the Refrigerant Market (September 18, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-18

I. Key Highlights

  1. In September, the reference price for mainstream HF procurement tenders in the East China market was set at RMB 15,100–15,200 per ton (delivered).
  2. The tetrachloroethylene market remained weak but stable. As of now, mainstream quotes in the Shandong market are around RMB 2,600–2,700 per ton (ex-works cash basis).

Core Logic: Operating rates for R125 refrigerant plants in the East China market have dropped to approximately 30%. Consequently, mainstream ex-factory prices in the East China market remain firm at high levels.

III. Market Outlook

As of press time, mainstream factory offers for R125 refrigerant in the East China market were quoted at approximately RMB 60,000 per ton (consistent for both domestic and export sales). Mainstream ex-factory transaction prices for R125 in East China ranged from RMB 54,000 to 57,000 per ton, remaining unchanged from the previous day. Market intelligence indicates that operating rates for R125 plants in East China are low, with producers restricting supply to maintain prices, while upstream raw material demand remains subdued. Blended refrigerants R404A and R507A maintained firm offers supported by cost pressures, with transaction centers shifting upward. Chempricehub forecasts that since R125 is primarily used for blending, and recent demand for associated blended refrigerant products has picked up with improving market sentiment, short-term R125 prices in the East China market are expected to continue consolidating within current ranges. Stakeholders should monitor demand-side developments for further guidance.

R125 capacity utilization at 30% is keeping prices firm, but low run rates risk supply tightness. While stable feedstock costs help margins, I’m watching if blended refrigerant demand can absorb these high ex-factory le..
