Morning Market Insight: Acrylic Emulsion

Published on 2026-10-14

I. Key Points

  1. Oct 13: Escalating conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia heightened supply risks, while the market assessed expectations of increased Russian supply. International crude oil prices closed mixed. NYMEX WTI November futures settled at $94.14/bbl, up $0.40 (+0.43%); ICE Brent December futures settled at $105.69/bbl, down $0.96 (-0.90%). China INE crude oil futures (December 2026 contract) rose by 22.5 yuan to 732 yuan/bbl, with night session prices increasing by 8.6 yuan to 740.6 yuan/bbl.

  2. Domestic MMA market prices remained stable yesterday. While holders maintained willingness to sell, negotiation room was limited. Buyer sentiment was somewhat quiet, with no significant improvement in transaction volumes. The domestic MMA market is expected to consolidate in the short term.

  3. The domestic butyl acrylate market fluctuated within a high range yesterday. Upstream propylene prices adjusted slightly downward, while n-butanol and acrylic acid prices remained stable within their respective ranges. Cost pressures for butyl acrylate remained elevated. Holders maintained high asking prices, while downstream users purchased on an as-needed basis at reasonable prices, primarily fulfilling existing contracts. Overall price center fluctuated within a high range. The butyl acrylate market is expected to maintain consolidation at high levels today, with attention focused on supply conditions and the restart status of downstream plants.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, raw material MMA prices remained stable, while butyl acrylate and styrene prices edged higher. Sustained cost pressure led acrylic emulsion producers to maintain firm offers. Downstream users entered the market cautiously, engaging in small-lot inquiries and negotiations, keeping overall market transactions stable. It is expected that raw material markets will maintain consolidation at high levels today, with strong cost support continuing. Producers and holders of acrylic emulsions are likely to maintain steady prices while actively selling inventory. Downstream enterprises remain in wait-and-see mode. The emulsion market is expected to remain stable. Future focus should be on dynamics in the butyl acrylate, MMA, and styrene raw material markets, as well as downstream demand.

High feedstock costs for propylene keep butyl acrylate prices elevated, squeezing acrylic emulsion margins. With MMA consolidating and downstream demand weak, capacity utilization may drop as buyers remain cautious. Geop..
