On August 10, 2026, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery & Electronic Products (CCCME) released a statement that on August 5, the UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA), upon the application of ALPEK Polyester Limited, officially initiated a safeguard investigation into imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. The products under investigation fall under UK Customs codes 39076100 and 39076900. The investigation period covers January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2025. The product scope includes both virgin PET and recycled PET, with the final definition subject to the official English description.
