China's push for self-reliance in semiconductor and PCB materials is reshaping procurement patterns for intermediates such as CAS 118121-89-4. Domestic photoresist makers are expanding capacity, with Beijing Kehua supplying 13 12-inch and 17 8-inch customers, and Rongda Sensitive adding TFT array and i/g-line resist lines. This increases local demand for high-purity building blocks. However, the upstream supply of ultra-clean raw materials for packaging still relies on imports from Entegris and Tosoh, creating a bottleneck. As domestic producers scale up, they face pressure to meet semiconductor-grade purity, which favors suppliers who can guarantee low metal ion content and consistent batch quality.

    The trade friction angle is real but don't overlook quality certification cycles. Even with strong domestic demand, qualifying a new intermediate for advanced photoresist or PCB applications can take 12-18 months. Early movers who secure qualification now will benefit most when the next wave of capacity comes online, especially as high-end PCB and packaging substrate output grows faster than traditional boards.
