How is the Chinese ethyl acrylate market expected to evolve through 2031?
China's ethyl acrylate market is relatively small among acrylate esters, with capacity around 150,000 tons and 2023 output of 108,200 tons, of which 31,000 tons were exported. The market still has room to grow, driven by downstream applications in coatings, water-based emulsions and adhesives. Producers are advised to strengthen downstream development and build integrated propylene-to-acrylate value chains, following the model of global majors. Capacity utilization has been a concern for some producers, with overall industry utilization around 24% for certain ester producers in 2023, reflecting overcapacity. Price trends are closely tied to propylene feedstock costs and supply adjustments by leading producers.

Watch the export channel closely. With only 31,000 tons exported in 2023, overseas demand is a swing factor. If export competitiveness fades due to freight or trade barriers, domestic oversupply could pressure prices further.
