How is China's polyphosphoric acid supply structured, and who are the key producers?
China's polyphosphoric acid (PPA) supply is concentrated among thermal-route producers, with Yangzhou Ruiyang Chemical standing out as the largest domestic capacity holder using the one-step process. The company operates two 30,000-ton-per-year high-purity PPA lines, upgraded in 2017 with full-heat-recovery technology developed by Yunnan Research Institute of Chemical Industry. Yangzhou Ruiyang can produce low-arsenic PPA up to 118.8% concentration, with high polymerization degree and stable chain length. Major integrated players like Yuntianhua are also expanding into PPA, with a 22,000-ton project underway alongside food-grade phosphoric acid capacity. The market remains relatively concentrated in resource-rich provinces such as Yunnan, leveraging local phosphate rock and yellow phosphorus advantages.

Buyers should note that PPA purity and polymerization degree vary significantly by producer. For high-end applications like pharmaceutical catalysts or electronic-grade materials, sourcing from thermal-route producers with proven quality control is critical. Wet-process PPA may offer cost advantages but often requires additional purification.
