Epoxy resins are thermosetting polymers that only harden when reacted with curing agents, which open the reactive epoxy ring to form crosslinked networks. The choice of hardener is critical: polyfunctional amines or anhydrides create dense 3D networks, while difunctional systems yield only linear polymers. This chemistry drives product segmentation across adhesives, coatings, electronic encapsulation, and composites. In China, the curing agent market alone reached roughly USD 1.1 billion in 2023, about 45% of the global total, with organic amines accounting for over 80% of domestic production. As epoxy resin output exceeds 1.6 million tons annually, hardener consumption is estimated above 800,000 tons, making curing agent supply chains a key demand indicator for the broader epoxy market.
