Downward Adjustment in Profit Margins for the Industrial Pyrolysis C9 Value Chain (October 16–22, 2026)

Published on 2026-10-23

Industrial Pyrolysis C9 Value Chain Profitability Statistics

Unit: CNY/ton

Product Current Period Previous Period Change in Value Percentage Change Next Period Trend
Industrial Aromatic Solvent -19 165 -184 -111.52% ↓
C9 Thermal Polymerization Petroleum Resin -90 16 -106 -662.5% ↓

Data Source: Chempricehub Information

Profit margins across the downstream segments of the pyrolysis C9 value chain declined during the current period. The weekly average price of industrial aromatic solvents decreased on a week-on-week basis; however, rising feedstock costs led to an overall contraction in profit margins compared to the previous period. Similarly, the weekly average prices for C9 thermal polymerization petroleum resin fell week-on-week. With feedstock (pyrolysis C9) prices increasing, theoretical profit margins also declined on a week-on-week basis.

Saw C9 value chain margins plunge into negative territory, with petroleum resin hitting -90 CNY/ton. Rising feedstock costs are squeezing downstream profitability hard. I expect this margin pressure to persist until arom..
