Taking the Henan region as the benchmark, DBP closed at 9,800–9,850 yuan/ton today, in line with morning expectations. Today, the overall price level of the domestic DBP market continued to move upward. It is understood that both raw materials — n-butanol and phthalic anhydride — kept rising, which increased DBP's cost pressure and strengthened price support. Market supply remained limited, and downstream buyers purchased only on a rigid-demand basis. Market inquiries and actual transactions were mediocre overall, and the wait-and-see sentiment intensified.

3. Production Dynamics

Today, the domestic DBP capacity utilization rate stood at 46%. The current profitability of DBP products was around -230 yuan/ton.

4. Price Forecast

At present, there is still room for the two feedstock markets to rise further, and the resulting high costs are supporting prices at elevated levels. Meanwhile, market supply remains relatively tight, downstream purchases are limited to essential demand, and inquiries and transactions are lackluster. Market prices are expected to fluctuate with an upward bias tomorrow.

5. Related Product Market

DOP market: Today, DOP market prices continued their upward trend. Some merchants are still rationing shipments, while rising crude oil and feedstock prices continued to boost buying sentiment. Trading was smooth in some regions during the day, and end users made moderate purchases based on essential demand.

Feedstock cost keeps pushing DBP up, but with operating rate stuck at 46% and margins still negative, I question whether downstream demand can really absorb these hikes.
