Starting from late January, the operating rate of isobutyraldehyde manufacturers slightly declined, with low inventory levels, tightening supply of isobutyraldehyde, leading to a significant increase in its price.

There are many propylene unit maintenance activities, leading to periodic tightness in propylene supply, causing its price to fluctuate and rise. The operating rate of isobutyraldehyde manufacturers has declined from high levels. In January, the 30,000-ton per year isobutyraldehyde unit of Yankuang Lunan Chemical operated at low capacity; the 25,000-ton per year isobutyraldehyde unit of Anqing Shuguang operated normally, with partial production conversion; the 25,000-ton per year isobutyraldehyde unit of Shandong Lihuayi underwent production conversion; the old 30,000-ton per year isobutyraldehyde unit of Jiangsu Huachang operated normally, with new units put into production; the 15,000-ton per year octanol unit of Dongming Dongfang Chemical resumed operation. Overall, the operating rate of isobutyraldehyde manufacturers was high, but in February, it slightly decreased to around 83%. The decline in isobutyraldehyde production has increased the support for its price rise.

On February 5, Yantai Wanhua quoted 7,650-7,800 yuan per ton, showing a fluctuating increase compared to the quotation of 7,250-7,400 yuan per ton on January 20. The rise in neopentyl glycol prices, coupled with pre-holiday stockpiling, has led to a short-term increase in isobutyraldehyde demand, causing its price to fluctuate and rise.
