China methanol port inventory rises 58,900 tons to 412,700 tons as of Nov 4, 2026

Published on 2026-11-04

As of November 4, 2026, China's total methanol port inventory stood at 412,700 tons, an increase of 58,900 tons from the previous reporting period. Specifically, inventories in East China rose by 56,500 tons, while those in South China increased by 2,400 tons.

Methanol port inventories accumulated as expected this week, with 112,300 tons of visible imports unloaded during the period. Pickup volumes from major Jiangsu riverside storage facilities were moderate, resulting in slight fluctuations in inventory levels. In Zhejiang, concentrated arrivals from both foreign vessels and domestic trade shipments led to a significant build-up in stocks. South China port inventories saw a modest accumulation. In Guangdong, arrivals from both foreign and domestic vessels were offset by essential downstream consumption, leading to a net increase in inventory. Conversely, in Fujian, no arrivals occurred during the period; despite essential downstream consumption, inventory levels decreased.

Sample Description: The methanol port inventory sample covers real-time physical methanol stock levels within 40 domestic storage facilities, achieving a sample coverage rate of 75%.

Definitions: This metric refers to the total physical inventory of specific commodities stored in warehouses or tanks at ports during a given period. It includes goods within bonded zones but excludes cargo on vessels currently in port. "Visible inventory" and "visible unloading" refer to stock levels and unloading volumes within the statistical sample facilities, respectively; non-visible metrics apply to areas outside the sample. Currently, the port inventory statistics reported by this network do not include Tianjin, Lianyungang, Dalian, Laizhou, Longkou, Nanjing Qingjiang Storage Area, Nantong Sinochem Storage Area, Shanghai Oriental Terminal, Shanghai Vopak Caojing, Zhoushan Yushan Terminal (Zhejiang), Yangzhou Sinochem, Huizhou Dagang (Guangdong), and Maoming Bohe (Guangdong).

Statistical Methodology: Chempricehub's methanol port inventory data represents real-time stock levels in methanol storage areas as of every Wednesday. This is primary statistical data, published at 14:00 on Wednesdays (working days).

Methanol port inventories jumped to 412,700 tons, driven by heavy Zhejiang arrivals. With downstream demand failing to absorb this supply surge, capacity utilization may dip, pressuring spot margins and signaling near-te..
