Chempricehub Important Reminder: 460,000-Ton Lithium Iron Phosphate Project Launched in Guizhou
Published on 2026-03-17

On March 17, news broke that relevant departments in Liuzhi Special Zone, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, issued an announcement to conduct the first public participation for the environmental impact assessment of the Liuzhi Lithium Iron Phosphate Project (Revised), marking the official launch and entry into the preliminary preparation phase of Guizhou's annual production capacity of 460,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate precursor project. According to the announcement, the first phase of the project will involve the construction of 9 lithium iron phosphate precursor production lines, which upon completion will achieve an annual production capacity of 460,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate precursors. Additionally, 6 production lines compatible with lithium iron manganese phosphate and sodium iron phosphate will be built, with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons. Chempricehub's analysis of lithium carbonate, with a long-short rating of 2: The first phase of the project, with an annual production capacity of 460,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate precursors, will significantly increase the demand for lithium carbonate, as lithium carbonate is a key raw material in the production of lithium iron phosphate. The anticipated surge in demand is a major positive factor for the spot price of lithium carbonate, potentially driving price increases. Combined with lithium carbonate futures data (such as the Guangzhou Futures Exchange's 2604 contract rising by 1,400 yuan and the 2605 contract falling by 2,160 yuan), recent contract prices have shown significant volatility. However, the long-term demand growth signal brought by the project's implementation may boost the prices of distant-month futures contracts and support market bullish sentiment.
