On August 12, Sinopec South China raised its toluene listed price by 100 yuan/mt, effective at 7,050 yuan/mt. Toluene and xylene moved higher with fluctuations yesterday, while overnight crude oil and overseas aromatics markets showed narrower swings, leaving cost support weak. Downstream users purchased on a need basis, with limited appetite to chase gains. Today, prices are expected to consolidate within a narrow range to digest the increase. Continued attention should be paid to Middle East geopolitical developments and trends in the overseas aromatics market.
