This week, European butadiene market prices rose in tandem with the Chinese market. Despite the upward price movement, no new October export deals were concluded. Market participants believe that, before the current supply tightness eases, there will be only one cargo shipped from Europe to Asia in each of September and October. Rising Rhine water levels have slightly improved transportation, but market sources expect supply to remain tight in September–October due to weather conditions. Some downstream companies believe that the current supply tightness is mainly concentrated in the German production region; meanwhile, high costs continue to weigh on downstream purchasing interest.
