Chempricehub Alert: Increased Outbound Shipments of Ethylene Glycol in East China Benefit Prices
Published on 2026-01-29
January 28th News: On January 27, 2026, the outbound volume of ethylene glycol at major ports in East China was as follows: The shipment volume of ethylene glycol at the main warehouse area in Zhangjiagang was approximately 9,100 tons; the shipment volume at the two main warehouse areas in Taicang was about 6,000 tons. Chempricehub's analysis of ethylene glycol, with a bullish-bearish score of 1, indicates that on January 27, 2026, the total outbound volume of ethylene glycol at East China ports was approximately 15,100 tons (9,100 tons from Zhangjiagang and 6,000 tons from Taicang). The increase in outbound volume suggests strong downstream demand and accelerated inventory consumption, providing favorable support for the spot price of ethylene glycol and potentially driving up spot quotations. Combined with ethylene glycol futures data, the main contract 2605 closed at 3,938 yuan/ton on the day, down 46 yuan, with a trading volume of 413,221 lots and a decrease in open interest by 6,520 lots, indicating a short-term bearish adjustment in the market. However, the growth in outbound volume suggests an improvement in future demand, which may partially offset bearish sentiment and support a rebound in futures prices. Overall assessment: The outbound volume data serves as a positive signal for demand, with a generally favorable impact on prices.
