In the second half of 2026, a total of 1.37 million tons per year of new ethanol capacity is planned to be added domestically in China, among which coal-based ethanol dominates with 1.27 million tons per year, while bio-fermentation ethanol accounts for only 0.1 million tons per year—specifically from Inner Mongolia Pengtai Bio-Syngas Ethanol Project (0.1 million tons/year). In detail, the coal-based ethanol projects include: Xinjiang Zhongrong (0.4 million tons/year), Xinjiang Haoyuan (0.6 million tons/year), and Shandong Qixiang (0.15 million tons/year), all three units scheduled for trial runs between October and December sequentially. Additionally, the Huizhou Yuxin expansion project (0.12 million tons/year) is expected to commence production in August ahead of schedule. On the bio-fermentation front, only the Inner Mongolia Pengtai Bio 0.1 million tons/year syngas ethanol project is planned for launch.
