Spot prices for soda ash continue to rise, providing cost-side support for the upward movement of downstream sodium metabisulfite prices. Demand-side support is also present to some extent. On May 11, the closing price of the main contract for soda ash (Contract 2609) on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) was 1,227 RMB/ton, down 23 RMB/ton from the previous trading day. Open interest increased by 41,692 lots. In the short term, the futures market remains weak, but spot support limits downside potential.
