ChemPriceHub Important Reminder: U.S. Imposes High Countervailing Duties on Chinese Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells
Published on 2026-02-06

Recently, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued a final ruling imposing countervailing duties on certain crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells (whether or not assembled into modules) imported from China between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. Among the companies named, Yingli Energy (China) Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Huihong International Group, and Yangzhou Jinghua New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. face an applicable tariff rate as high as 117.41%, while other unspecified companies are subject to a rate of 9.07%.

PriceSeek Analysis on Polysilicon, Bull-Bear Score: -1.5
The imposition of high countervailing duties by the U.S. (up to 117.41%) is expected to significantly curb the export of Chinese crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells to the United States, indirectly reducing the demand for polysilicon as a raw material. This is likely to exert downward pressure on spot prices. Combined with futures market data, the main polysilicon futures contract 2605 closed at 49,285 yuan per ton, down 755 yuan for the day, with open interest decreasing by 870 lots. This indicates weak market demand expectations, which may further intensify the downward trend in futures prices.
