Chempricehub Important Reminder: Bohai Chemical PDH Unit Shutdown Extended
Published on 2026-03-16

March 16th — Tianjin Bohai Chemical Co., Ltd. recently announced an extension of the originally scheduled maintenance shutdown for its PDH (propane dehydrogenation) unit, marking the second postponement of the maintenance period. According to the company's announcement on October 14, 2025, the PDH unit (with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons) of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tianjin Bohai Petrochemical Co., Ltd., commenced a planned maintenance shutdown on October 13, 2025, initially expected to last approximately 30 days.

Chempricehub Analysis:
Propylene – Bull/Bear Score: 1.5
The extended maintenance shutdown of Bohai Chemical's PDH unit has led to a reduction in propylene supply. As a major production facility with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, the prolonged shutdown exacerbates market supply tightness, potentially driving up spot prices. With stable downstream demand for propylene, the supply shortage is viewed as a moderate positive factor.

Propane – Bull/Bear Score: -1.5
The extended PDH unit shutdown reduces the demand for propane as a feedstock. Given relatively ample propane supply, declining demand may exert downward pressure on spot prices. The intensified supply-demand imbalance constitutes a moderate negative factor.
