Chempricehub Alert: BDO Unit Shutdown at Xinjiang Meike Chemical Affects Supply
Published on 2026-04-08

April 8th News: On April 8th, the 100,000-ton/year Phase III unit of Xinjiang Markor Chemical was shut down, while the 60,000-ton/year Phase I, 100,000-ton/year Phase II, 100,000-ton/year Phase IV, and 100,000-ton/year Phase V BDO units were operating normally. Chempricehub's analysis of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) shows a bullish-bearish rating of 1. The shutdown of Xinjiang Markor Chemical's 100,000-ton/year Phase III BDO unit has led to a supply reduction of approximately 21.7% (estimated based on a total capacity of 460,000 tons/year), while other units continue normal operations. The supply reduction may drive up spot prices, exerting a positive impact on the market, but the extent of this impact is limited, hence it is rated as a moderate positive.
